Why Alpine Islands Adventure Club?
We bring together people who wish to develop and improve upon their skills in the mountains through consistent practice, meetups, and connection with others. We mentor each other and help one another improve, while also working on our own skills, to help make the backcountry more accessible to all.

When You Join Today
When you join Alpine Islands Adventure Club today, you’ll get access to our:
- Backcountry Skills Video Workshop: Watch a short course video on avalanche assessment and then complete the guided practice checklist during a local field session; follow up in the chat to share observations and mentor feedback. This builds practical decision-making and reinforces learning through guided reflection and peer input.
- Peer Mentored Route Planning Meetup: Pair with a mentor to co-develop a safe route plan for an upcoming outing, using layered map analysis, weather briefings, and risk mitigation exercises during an in-person meetup. This activity strengthens navigation, judgment, and collaborative planning skills while practicing real-world application.
- Technique Swap and Skills Clinic: Attend an event where members demonstrate and critique movement, avy rescue, and gear-handling techniques in short practice rotations, followed by group debriefs in chat to consolidate tips and next-step drills. This focused practice accelerates skill improvement through hands-on coaching and targeted repetition.
